MLA, Inc. Improves Operations

through Application Service Provider (ASP)

--Mortgage Builder Software, Inc.’s ASP helps MLA save time and money--

DETROIT – April 29, 2002 – MLA, Inc. is using an ASP solution provided by Mortgage Builder Software, Inc. (MBSI).  MLA had been using a system provided by MBSI for a number of years, and recently upgraded to MBSI’s Windows®-based loan origination software system (LOS), using the ASP solution in order to take advantage of improved efficiencies.

“The ASP solution is the most cost effective way for MLA, Inc. to assist our clients in the home-buying process,” said Lance Avery, servicing consultant at MLA, Inc.,  “We do not have a large technology staff available, and an in-house server would cause our company to expend a large amount of our resources training our staff, or bringing in new employees to maintain the system.  With the MBSI ASP solution, we are able to invest those resources in more productive areas.”

MBSI’s ASP solution allows mortgage companies to outsource server needs required to run their LOS system.  The server exists at MBSI’s home office, and MBSI maintains all hardware, operating systems and administration.  In addition, MBSI upgrades the hardware on a regular basis to ensure the technology is current and high- performance levels are upheld.  This helps to eliminate downtime while also helping companies lower expenses, because additional technology staff are not required to maintain the server.

“The price benefits are what really make this system advantageous,” said Avery.  “There is no upfront fee associated with purchasing the system, and it is much more cost effective for a small-to mid-size company, because the percentage of overall resources used on technology is much lower.”

MLA has been using the ASP solution for more than a year now.  MBSI sustains the nightly backups for MLA, and directly loads all the upgrades for the users of the ASP solution.

“The benefits have been fairly obvious from day one,” continued Avery.  “We simply enter the data into the system, and everything from maintenance to insuring the security of the system is done by MBSI.”

MBSI has a backup server offsite that runs parallel to the ASP solution, so if there are unforeseen circumstances, it offers support in a matter of minutes.  The cost of having these safeguards in place would be extensive for a company without a large technical staff.

“We have a longstanding relationship with MBSI, and the ASP solution demonstrates their commitment to providing mortgage companies with effective solutions,” Avery concluded.  “MBSI listens to our immediate needs, and creates solutions that improve our ability to do business.  MBSI is reliable and that gives us the piece of mind that we are getting the most out of our technology provider.”
